Tracking User Behaviour

I use [PostHog] for my own companies as it allows me to track events, funnels, user sessions and more - for free. Hence, this guide will show you how to set up PostHog.

If you’d like to use another analytics platform, you can easily do so by refering to the documentation of that platform.

Because we are using Framer for our landing page and Next.js for our main app (codebase), we’ll have to configure PostHog to work with both.

Create a PostHog Project

If you don’t have a PostHog account yet, you can create one [here for European users] and [here for US users].
Create a new project and use the default settings.

Configure PostHog in Framer

Inside Framer, when inside a project go to GENERAL → CUSTOM CODE.
Paste the following code into the HEAD tag. Ensure to replace [project_id] with your actual project ID.

You can find the PostHog tracking snippet pre-filled with this data in your [project settings].

Configure PostHog in Codebase

Inside the codebase, go to the layout.tsx file and add the tracking snippet from our previous step inside the BODY tag.
Ensure to replace [project_id] with your actual project ID.
